The tower's structure means nothing. Its neutral grid is so emptied out that it thoroughly lacks symbolic content. The tower opens up an unbridgeable gap between form and function. Perhaps the least aesthetically pleasing building that Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill ever produced, One Wilshire is also the most valuable real estate in North America. This confirms that the role of the building as a producer of effect or meaning is obsolete.
